THE PROJECT

Commissioned by the British Virgin Island's Port Authority as part of a $52 million project to expand Tortola Pier Park, I designed a series of floating sub frames, driving frames, and guides for driving steel piling in a pattern and pitch specific to the layout of the existing structure to allow for the construction of the new cruise pier. Designed and constructed more than 1,200 miles from work site, a sharp attention to detail ensured all pieces of the pile driving frames assembled as expected upon delivery. The frames and guides used to secure and build Tortola's Pier Park have resulted in the island's ability to accommodate the ever growing market of mega cruise ships. The new pier also led to the expansion of an adjacent five acre shopping and entertainment center which hosts over 425,000 cruise ship passengers every year.
